Why should I distinguish an in-play selection from a pregame selection?
A pregame selection is made before play begins; an in-play selection is made after the event is underway. The information and market terms can differ as the event progresses, so do not treat them as the same ticket just because the participants and market name look similar. Verify the event status and the timing of the price or selection you are reviewing. BSD's Live status can be based on a scoreboard, a current in-play price or schedule alone, so a schedule-based status is not the same as confirmed live play. A Grade is a second opinion, not a pick.

Pregame and in-play refer to different moments
Before the event starts, a pregame market reflects information available before play. An in-play market is offered after the event has begun and can reflect a changed score, clock or period. Record which timing context belongs to the selection rather than relying on team names alone.
Check what establishes the event status
A current status can be supported by a public scoreboard, an in-play price or only a scheduled start. If the basis is schedule alone, it does not establish that play is underway. A source can also report unknown status when no bound scoreboard is available.
- Confirm the event and scheduled start.
- Check whether the source says in progress or only indicates a passed schedule time.
- Match the ticket to the market timing you intended.
Do not carry a pregame quote into a live context
An in-play selection has its own timing and market terms. Recheck the current ticket and quote context; this guide does not promise a live price, market availability or a particular result.
Hypothetical example: distinguish timing before review
Suppose you are comparing two records for the same event: one made before the start and another made after the scoreboard shows play in progress. Keep them as separate timing contexts and check the market wording and event status for each. A matching participant name does not make their information time identical. This is a synthetic example, not a real ticket or price.

Does a scheduled start time by itself prove a selection was in-play?
No. A schedule-based status is not the same as scoreboard or in-play-price evidence that play is underway.
Can I treat a pregame quote as the live quote?
Do not assume so. Verify the current market timing and ticket terms before relying on a quote.
