What can BSD remember when I close and reopen the app?

BSD can save the last parsed answer for selected eligible views in account-scoped private storage and load it in the background after a cold start. A restored answer can paint while the normal read refreshes. The cache is bounded by count, size, and age; it does not promise permanent storage, complete offline use, restoration after uninstall, or resumption of every operation.

For BSD readers reopening the app and wondering what previously viewed data can reappear · Updated

The cache keeps eligible view data, not every app action

A saved entry represents a parsed read answer for a registered view. It can help a visited screen paint sooner after the app restarts, while the source is read again. The cache excludes in-flight work such as a running Grade job or Doctor reply job.

The saved data is bounded by entry count, total size, and age. Some views are not eligible, entries can be evicted, and old answers can expire. It is a convenience for selected screens, not a permanent history of everything done in BSD.

  • An eligible saved view may reappear.
  • A running request or unfinished action is not restored as if it completed.

Restoration happens in the background

The app does not wait for the entire saved cache to load before showing the first screen. Eligible saved answers can fill screens that have already asked for them as their entries become available. A current request still refreshes the answer.

Do not rely on the cache as complete offline functionality. It may be empty, expired, evicted, or superseded by current source data, and it does not restore every operation after a restart.

A saved view returns after a cold start

Imagine a reader previously opened an eligible read view and later closes the app. On reopening, a saved answer for that account may load in the background and paint the view while BSD refreshes it. A screen without an eligible entry or a still-running operation is not guaranteed to return in the same way.

Related questions

Does BSD keep every screen forever?

No. Only selected registered views are cached, and entries are bounded by count, size, and age.

Does a restored answer mean the app is offline-ready?

No. The answer may be stale, and normal reads and current access checks still apply.
