Why might BSD reject my profile photo before it is saved?
The recorded profile-photo input accepts JPEG or PNG with valid base64 data whose decoded size is no more than 3,145,728 bytes (3 MiB). Unsupported media types, malformed input, or an oversized payload can be rejected. The photo flow also handles certain server validation errors separately from a request whose outcome could not be confirmed; a supported type and size do not guarantee every image will be accepted.

Check the submitted type and decoded size
The recorded BSD profile-photo parser accepts the image/jpeg and image/png media types. It validates the base64 representation and caps the decoded payload at 3,145,728 bytes. The limit is on the data sent to the product, not a universal limit for every kind of upload.
A device may select or compress a photo before the request is formed, so the submitted bytes can differ from the original file size shown elsewhere. The source does not establish a pixel-dimension limit or guarantee that every JPEG or PNG will pass server validation.
An input rejection differs from an uncertain save
The photo flow recognizes specific input and upload responses, including invalid photo data, unsupported format, and too-large payloads. Its recoverable message asks the member to reload the profile and choose another or smaller photo.
A network or response problem can instead leave the save unconfirmed while keeping the saved photo choice for recovery. Do not interpret every failure as a bad image or assume a valid-looking selection was saved; follow the current message and confirm the profile state.
Hypothetical: the submitted photo exceeds the limit
Imagine a member chooses a profile photo whose encoded submission exceeds the recorded 3,145,728-byte decoded limit. BSD can reject that input before confirming a save. The member chooses a smaller photo through the current product flow; this example does not claim that every smaller JPEG or PNG will be accepted.

Which profile-photo media types does the recorded input accept?
The source accepts image/jpeg and image/png media types. It does not establish support for other file types or for every image with those labels.
Is the 3,145,728-byte limit for every BSD upload?
No. This limit belongs to the recorded profile-photo input and should not be generalized to slips, documents, or other media.
