How does a series or aggregate score differ from one event's result?
A series or aggregate score combines results across multiple events under a defined competition format. One event's result describes a single contest. If a source gives the series score before the next event, keep its cutoff and component events distinct from the result of the event being analyzed. A series lead does not tell you the next event's result, and a single event score should not be presented as the full aggregate.

An aggregate combines more than one event
A series score can represent wins, sets, goals, points, or another format-specific total across several events. Its meaning depends on the competition's official aggregation rule. Name the series or competition and the point in time when that score was recorded.
- Use the official series or aggregate definition.
- State which events are included and the cutoff before the next event.
- Keep any single-event score in its own record.
One event has its own result
The current event's score or result applies to that contest alone. It may later change an aggregate under the competition's rules, but it is not itself the already-recorded series score before the event. Do not use the two labels interchangeably.
Label scope and timing in the report
When both values matter, write them in separate fields with their dates or sequence positions. If the aggregate's definition or included events are unclear, describe that limitation rather than recalculating from incomplete results. Neither value predicts the next event.
Hypothetical example: series record before a separate event
In a fictional best-of series, Team A has won two events and Team B one before the next scheduled event. The pre-event series score is 2–1. A later single-event result would be recorded separately and could change the aggregate under that series' rules; it is not part of the earlier 2–1 snapshot. These invented results are not a real competition or prediction.

Can a series lead tell me who will win the next event?
No. The series score is a historical aggregate at a stated cutoff; it does not determine the next event's result.
