What does a resource preview leave out compared with the full material?

A title or short summary helps identify a resource; it is not the complete material or permission to open every file. The club-resource data model separates a title, body and attachment references, and file retrieval follows a separate access check. The source does not define a customer-facing preview format or guarantee that every preview includes the full text, files or context. Treat only the content you can actually access as available to you.

For Club members evaluating a creator-provided resource when available to them · Updated

A title or summary can omit the resource itself

A short description can tell you what a creator intended a resource to cover without reproducing its complete body or any attached file. If you are shown only a title or summary, do not assume that it contains every example, instruction or attachment.

The source model keeps resource title and body as separate fields and references attachments separately. It does not define an exact preview length or establish one universal preview screen.

The full material can include separately checked attachments

A resource record can include a body plus attachment references. Retrieving an attachment follows a separate route that checks club-content access and file admission; a visible title or summary does not grant that access.

If a file or full body is not available in the material you can currently open, the preview alone does not prove that BSD will provide it or that the item is included for every member.

  • Read the creator's description for the scope of the material.
  • Check which body or attachment is actually available under your current access.
  • Ask the creator to clarify a missing item rather than assuming the preview includes it.

A preview is not an access promise

The service source describes resource fields and access checks, but does not establish a specific preview UI, a paid-resource entitlement or a promise that all resources are available to all clubs.

Use any preview as the information it actually displays. Do not treat it as the full material, proof of a future download or a change to current access.

Hypothetical: a summary mentions an attached worksheet

Suppose a creator-provided resource description mentions a worksheet, but the material currently visible to a member shows only a title and short summary. The member cannot infer from that summary alone that the worksheet is included or accessible. The full resource body and file reference are separate, and current club access is checked when an attachment is requested.

Related questions

Does a preview mean the full file is included?

No. The resource model separates text content and attachment references, and the source does not promise that every preview includes or grants access to every file.

Does BSD guarantee the same preview format for every resource?

The cited source defines resource data and file access, not a universal customer-facing preview format.
