What should I check before reusing a resource after leaving its club?

Before reusing creator-provided material after leaving a club, check two separate things: whether you still have current access to the resource, and what permission the creator gave for keeping, copying or sharing it. The club-resource source reads items in a club context and checks attachment access when a file is requested; it does not define a perpetual reuse license. A copy saved on your device is not, by itself, proof of continuing access or permission to reuse it.

For Club members considering reuse of creator-provided material after leaving a club · Updated

Separate access to the club from rights to reuse the material

A club resource is associated with a particular club, and a request for its details or attachment is made in that club context. Current access to the resource is different from any permission to keep using a copy after your membership changes.

The resource service models the item and its attachments; it does not state a perpetual license or define what a creator allows after someone leaves. Do not assume that either continued access or reuse permission follows automatically.

Check the creator's stated terms for the use you have in mind

Look for the creator's terms about retaining, studying, copying, adapting or sharing the material after leaving. These can be different permissions: permission to read a copy does not necessarily answer whether you may redistribute it or use it in another project.

If the terms do not answer your question, ask the creator before reusing or sharing the material. This is a practical check, not a claim about a particular creator's license.

  • Check whether post-membership access is still available.
  • Check whether a local copy may be kept and for what purpose.
  • Check separately before copying, adapting or sharing the material with others.

A downloaded copy does not settle the permission question

A file that remains on a device is a local copy. Its presence does not establish that BSD can still serve the club resource, that the creator granted ongoing access, or that sharing the file is permitted.

The available source does not promise continued access after leaving, a perpetual license, or automatic deletion of local copies when membership changes.

Hypothetical: reusing a saved club worksheet

Suppose a member downloaded a creator's worksheet while they belonged to a club, then left and wants to use it in a different group. The saved file answers only whether a copy is on that device. The member still checks the creator's stated terms for post-membership use and sharing, and separately whether the club resource remains accessible. Neither question is settled merely by leaving or keeping the file.

Does leaving the club automatically give me permission to reuse what I downloaded?

The source does not define reuse rights. Check the creator's terms for keeping, copying or sharing the material.

Does keeping a local copy mean I still have access to the club resource?

No. A local file and current access through the club are separate. The source does not promise either perpetual access or deletion of local copies.
