Should I receive a club notification for liking or replying to my own content?
The covered community notification source rejects an event when its actor and recipient are the same account. That means the source does not create a self-notification for the supported club reply or like case. It does not mean the underlying action is always permitted, rule out notices about other activity, or explain why a different inbox item is missing.
For BSD readers wondering whether their own club likes or replies should appear as notifications · Updated
A club activity notification is for another recipient
The community notification source validates actor and recipient as different accounts. The durable source table also rejects actor-equals-recipient rows. A like or reply created by you is therefore not turned into a notification addressed back to you through this source.
This statement is limited to the recorded free-club reply and like notification behavior. It does not describe every category in the BSD inbox or guarantee what another member will see.
- A self-action and a notification to another member are different events.
- Do not expect this source to echo your own like or reply back to you.
A missing item can have other explanations
The actor-recipient rule explains this one case only. It does not say that all of your own actions are always allowed, that no other type of notice can appear, or that a missing notification from another person has a particular cause.
Use the inbox state and current source information for the item you are checking. Do not infer a block, delivery failure, or account issue from the absence of a self-notification.
A member likes their own discussion
Imagine a fictional member creates a club discussion and then likes it. The notification source sees the same account as actor and recipient, so it rejects that self-notification. This says nothing about whether the like action itself succeeds or what notifications other members receive.

Does this mean BSD never notifies me about activity I start?
No. The source rule applies to actor-equals-recipient community notifications in the covered flow; it does not describe every notification category.
Does a missing self-notification mean the like failed?
No. Notification creation and the underlying action are distinct. The source rule alone does not establish whether the action succeeded.
