How can I avoid replying to the wrong discussion when several threads look similar?
Before replying, confirm the conversation itself, the intended participant profile, and the recent message context. Similar display names are not a reliable conversation identity. The canonical message views use thread and participant identity from the current authorized view; use only information the current product actually exposes, and do not infer a person from a missing profile placeholder.

Check the conversation, not just the name
Open the conversation you intend to answer and confirm its current participant and the recent messages in that same thread. A display name may be similar to another person's name, so it should not be the only clue.
Use a thread or profile identifier if the current view provides one. Do not guess who a conversation belongs to from a partial or missing profile label.
Read enough recent context to understand the reply
Check the last approved messages and any linked source that you are authorized to open. If the reference is unavailable or the conversation context is unclear, pause rather than replying based on another thread's history.
A message preview or saved link does not replace the current participant and access checks for the full conversation.
Keep the reply in its intended thread
Once the conversation is clear, reply only in that thread. Avoid copying a private message into another discussion just to compare identities or recover context.
The source documents canonical thread and participant IDs, but does not establish a universal client layout or a specific tap sequence for selecting a conversation.
Hypothetical: two similar profile names
Imagine a member sees two conversations with similar names. Before replying, the member confirms the participant profile and recent approved messages in the intended thread. If a participant label is missing or the context is unclear, the member does not guess or paste private text into the other conversation.

Is the display name enough to identify a conversation?
No. Confirm the current thread and participant context; similar display names do not establish that two conversations are the same.
What if the participant label is missing?
Do not infer identity from a missing placeholder. Use only participant details the current authorized view actually provides.
