What is the difference between a market line and the price attached to it?
The line describes the condition attached to a market selection, such as a spread or total threshold. The price describes the odds offered for that selection. They are separate attributes: a price can change while the line stays the same, or a different line can carry a similar-looking price.

The line says what condition the selection uses
A spread line describes the handicap applied to a side; a total line describes the threshold applied to combined scoring. The line is part of the market's terms, not a synonym for the odds attached to the selection.
Read the line with its event, participant, period and market type. A similar label without those details may refer to a different condition.
The price is a separate offer for that condition
Price expresses the odds attached to the selected market terms. It can move even when the line stays put; changing the line changes the condition being selected even if the price looks similar. Compare the exact line and exact price together, on the same event and market.
A current sportsbook quote must come from the operator's current offer. This explanation gives no live price and does not imply that two markets are interchangeable.
- Match the event, participant, period and market type.
- Read the line as the condition and the price as the odds attached to it.
- Do not infer a current quote from a label or a different market.
Illustrative example: same line, different price
Imagine a fictional total market whose threshold remains unchanged while the odds attached to one side move. The condition is still the same line, but the price is different. If the threshold itself changes, the selection terms changed even if the displayed price looks similar. This example contains no sportsbook quote or live market.

Can a line stay the same while the price changes?
Yes. The line and the attached price are separate attributes, so one may change while the other does not. Check the operator's current offer for exact terms.
Does a similar price make two markets equivalent?
No. Compare the event, participant, period, market type, line and settlement terms. A similar price does not make different conditions identical.
