Why might a line change between browsing a market and opening the sportsbook?

The market preview and sportsbook ticket may show prices observed at different times. A price can change before you open the book, and a BSD preview is not a locked quote or a bookmaker’s acceptance. Compare the same event, market, selection and book, then review the sportsbook’s current ticket before deciding whether to continue.

For Bettors comparing a market preview with a sportsbook ticket · Updated

The two screens may show different snapshots

A price preview has its own observation time and is tied to a specific event, sportsbook and selection. Opening the sportsbook later presents a separate quote. If the market changed between those observations, the displayed line can differ even when you intended to view the same selection.

Check that both screens refer to the same offer

Compare the event identity, selected side or outcome, market and sportsbook. A similar label may not represent the same offer. Also compare the quote time: a later ticket is not a continuation of the earlier preview’s observation.

The sportsbook controls its current ticket quote

A BSD preview is unplaced and does not lock a line. The sportsbook’s current ticket is the place to inspect the price it is offering at that moment. A changed line does not mean a bet was accepted, and no fixed refresh latency or execution guarantee is implied.

Hypothetical example: a preview and ticket use different times

Imagine a reader views a market preview, waits, then opens the corresponding sportsbook ticket. The ticket shows a changed line. The reader compares the event, selection, book and observation time, then decides using the sportsbook’s current quote rather than assuming the earlier preview is locked. No actual line or price is represented.

Related questions

Does BSD lock the price when I open a market?

No. A market preview is not a locked sportsbook quote or a placement confirmation.

What should I compare if the line differs?

Confirm the event, market, selection, sportsbook and observation times on both screens.

Does a changed preview mean a wager was placed?

No. Review the sportsbook ticket and its current status; a preview does not confirm placement.
