Why can History keep the last saved analysis visible when refresh fails temporarily?

When the exact saved report was already loaded for the current account and an ordinary refresh fails temporarily, History can keep that report visible while showing that it could not be refreshed and offering retry. The retained view is not new data and is not an offline guarantee. If authorization is denied or the report identity no longer matches, the screen suppresses the report instead of using this temporary-error behavior.

A temporary error can preserve the last verified view

History scopes a saved Grade read to the current owner and generation, ticket, entry, and report digest. If that exact report is already present and a refresh encounters an ordinary temporary error, the view can keep showing the returned report with a refresh warning.

The warning comes with a retry action. It tells you the displayed analysis did not just refresh successfully, so it should not be read as newly fetched or newly researched information.

Visible does not mean freshly checked

The retained analysis is the last report already loaded for that History reference. A temporary transport problem does not create a new version, extend freshness, or prove that every related source can still be opened.

This is limited to an ordinary read failure while the report remains in the current view. It does not promise offline access, persistence after app restart, or a way around authorization.

  • The warning means the current refresh did not complete.
  • Retry requests the saved ticket or report again.
  • A denial or mismatch follows the unavailable state, not the retained-view path.

Access denial is handled differently

If the read is denied or the report digest conflicts with the saved reference, History hides the prior report and says the exact saved report could not be verified.

If the report remains visible with a refresh warning, the screen is describing a temporary check failure while retaining the previously loaded analysis. Review the warning and retry before relying on a fresh read.

A saved Grade with a retry warning

Hypothetically, a reader has already opened the exact saved analysis in the current account view. A later ordinary refresh times out. History may keep that same report visible, mark that it could not be refreshed, and offer retry. It does not claim new research or promise offline availability.

Related questions

Does the visible report mean the refresh succeeded?

No. The warning says the refresh failed; the visible content is the last report already loaded for that History reference.

Will the report stay visible after an access denial?

No. The denial path suppresses the report and says it could not be verified. That is separate from an ordinary temporary refresh failure.
