Why does a saved Grade say Placement time unknown?

History says Placement time unknown when it does not have a recorded placement timestamp for the ticket. Without that time, it cannot compare when the Grade became available with when the ticket was placed. The label does not mean the Grade arrived before or after placement. Keep the timing unknown instead of substituting game time, report creation time, or a later recollection.

For Bettors reviewing the timing of a saved Grade and a recorded ticket · Updated

The comparison needs a placement timestamp

History compares a Grade’s recorded availability with the placement time attached to the ticket. If the placement timestamp is absent, the page cannot establish the order of those two events for that record, so it preserves the status as Placement time unknown.

The unknown label is a limit on the available timeline. It does not say that placement happened before the Grade, after it, or at a particular point in the game.

  • No placement timestamp means there is no reliable placement-time comparison for that entry.
  • Unknown does not mean before, after, or zero elapsed time.

Other timestamps answer different questions

A game or event time describes the sporting event, not when a bettor placed a ticket. A Grade’s report or availability time describes when that report could be reviewed, not when the ticket was placed. Neither can fill in a missing placement timestamp.

A later recollection is also not the original recorded placement time. Substituting it would turn a missing value into an unsupported timing claim, so History keeps the gap visible.

Keep the timing conclusion narrow

When the label says Placement time unknown, read it as a statement about missing timing evidence in that History entry. You can still review the saved Grade and the ticket details that are present, but you cannot use this record to claim the Grade was available before or after placement.

If placement timing matters to your review, rely only on a placement timestamp actually recorded for the ticket. Leave the comparison unresolved when that timestamp is unavailable.

An available Grade with no recorded placement time

Hypothetically, History shows when a saved Grade became available but has no placement timestamp for the related ticket. The Grade time alone cannot tell you whether the ticket came before or after it. A kickoff time or a later memory does not supply the missing placement time, so the comparison remains unknown.

Related questions

Can kickoff time stand in for placement time?

No. Kickoff or game time describes the event, not when the ticket was placed.

Does unknown mean the Grade was not available before placement?

No. Without a recorded placement timestamp, History cannot establish whether the Grade became available before or after placement.
