How does a History summary handle records in different currencies?

A compact History summary selects the known currency represented by the most records in that window, then calculates its monetary totals using records in that currency. It does not convert or add amounts from other currencies. Detailed summaries retain separate source-and-currency groups, so a compact total should not be read as an all-currency net worth or as including every record.

For Bettors reviewing History summaries with records in multiple currencies · Updated

The compact total uses one represented currency

History counts records by known currency in the summary groups and selects the currency with the most records. The monetary total, settled count, and related figures are then built from groups with that selected currency.

Records in another currency do not get converted into the selected currency and are not added to that compact amount. This avoids combining unlike monetary units without an exchange-rate calculation.

Detailed groups preserve currency context

The detailed summary keeps groups by source and currency, so readers can inspect those categories separately. A record outside the compact summary's selected currency may still be represented in another detail group.

If no usable currency is known for any group, the compact summary has no selected currency for a monetary total. History should not substitute dollars for the missing currency.

  • The selection is based on record representation, not the largest balance.
  • Other currencies are not converted or summed into the chosen amount.
  • The compact amount is not an all-currency net worth.

Compare figures with their currency and source

When comparing results, check that the selected window, source, and currency group match. A figure from one group cannot be added to a different currency just because both are shown in the same History view.

Use the source and currency labels in the details to understand which records support each amount.

Two currencies in one window

Hypothetically, a window contains more records in USD than in CAD. The compact summary uses the known currency with more records and does not convert the CAD records into USD. The details can keep the currency groups separate for inspection.

Related questions

Does History convert every record into dollars?

No. The compact total selects one known currency and does not promise foreign-exchange conversion.

Does the displayed total include records in every currency?

No. It aggregates records for its selected currency. Other currencies remain separate from that compact total.
