What should I check before changing an event attendance response?

Before changing an event response, verify that you have the right event, check your current RSVP state, and reread its latest date, time and status. The recorded RSVP service accepts going or cancelled for an event that has not ended or been canceled, and it requires current club-content access. Changing your RSVP is different from the organizer canceling the event and does not itself add or remove a personal calendar entry.

For Club members deciding whether to change an event response · Updated

Make sure the response is for the right event

Check the event title, host club, date and current details before changing a response. Similar titles are not enough to establish that two entries refer to the same event.

If the event has a newer revision or changed time, use its current details rather than an older saved view.

Confirm the event is still available and you have access

The recorded RSVP operation requires current club-content access and refuses an event that has ended or been canceled. If those conditions do not pass, the response change can be rejected.

A member's RSVP status is separate from event cancellation. A response marked cancelled does not cancel the event for other members.

Use only the response options your current client shows

The recorded service stores an event RSVP as going or cancelled. If your current BSD client presents a response control, select the status that matches your plans and confirm the current event details afterward.

The backend source does not establish a universal RSVP screen, automatic calendar change, or a reserved place.

Hypothetical: changing a response after a time update

Imagine a member previously marked going, then sees that the event details have a newer start time. The member checks the event identity, current time and own RSVP state before choosing a different response in the current client. The change affects that member's response, not the organizer's event status or an external calendar entry.

Related questions

Does changing my RSVP cancel the event?

No. It changes the signed-in member's response for that event. Event cancellation is a separate organizer action.

Can I change an RSVP after the event is canceled or has ended?

The recorded service rejects RSVP changes for canceled events and events whose end time has passed.
