GUIDES · BETSLIP DOCTOR
When should I start a new Doctor chat instead of continuing the current one?
Continue the current Doctor thread when your next question depends on its ticket, saved Grade or earlier messages. Start a new chat when you want to separate an unrelated question: the new thread opens without a selected ticket or report, while the old conversation remains available. A new chat does not erase the old one or turn off account-level memory and permitted History. Existing access and active-request guards still apply, so opening a new chat is not a way to cancel or replace a running Doctor job. A Grade is a second opinion, not a pick.
For BSD readers deciding where a new Doctor question belongs. · Updated
A new chat does not stop active Doctor work
Doctor checks access and whether a request is active before opening another thread. If a turn is running or recovering, the new-chat action can wait or be unavailable; use the existing conversation state rather than assuming New will interrupt that job.
Hypothetical example: separate a new subject
Suppose one Doctor thread is about a saved ticket and Grade, and you now want to ask an unrelated question about a market term. Continue the original thread for questions about its Grade; start a new chat for the separate topic. The old thread remains, and the new one begins without that ticket or report selected. This is a synthetic example, not a real ticket or Grade result.

Does starting a new chat delete the conversation I was using?
No. New chat opens a separate thread; deletion is a separate, destructive action.
Will New chat cancel a Doctor request that is already running?
Do not expect that. The new-chat action is guarded while a Doctor request is active or recovering; it is not a cancellation control.
