Why should possible future tournament rounds not be counted as already scheduled appearances?
A possible future round is not the same as an already-scheduled event. If participation depends on winning, qualifying, or another unresolved condition, list it as conditional rather than counting it as a confirmed remaining appearance. For a schedule count, state the competition, current event, cutoff, and the fixtures officially scheduled after it. Update the count only when the source confirms a new fixture; do not treat a projected bracket path as certainty.

Count only fixtures already on the schedule
A confirmed fixture has an official event entry after the current event at the stated cutoff. Keep its date, competition, and source with the count. A bracket illustration or projected opponent may show a possible route without establishing that the participant will appear in that round.
- Identify the schedule source and capture time.
- Separate confirmed events from conditional rounds.
- State what happens if a fixture is postponed, canceled, or not yet assigned.
Qualification is a condition, not a fixture
A later tournament stage may depend on the outcome of an earlier event. Until the participant qualifies and the fixture is officially scheduled, it should remain a conditional possibility rather than part of the confirmed event count. This avoids making a planned path look like a guaranteed appearance.
Tie the count to a cutoff
Schedules can be updated. A count should describe the official fixtures visible at a particular cutoff, not a current promise. If a new fixture is later added, report that as a later snapshot instead of changing what the earlier count meant.
Hypothetical example: one confirmed fixture and one possible round
A fictional tournament schedule shows one official fixture after the current event and a bracket path to another round only if the subject qualifies. The count of already-scheduled remaining events is one; the possible round is noted separately as conditional. The event count is tied to the schedule captured at the stated cutoff. This synthetic example is not a current tournament schedule.

If a bracket shows a later round, is that already a scheduled appearance?
Not when participation depends on an unresolved result or qualification. Count it as conditional until the official schedule confirms the fixture.
