How is a club owner different from a moderator in BSD?
In BSD’s club role model, a moderator can read, post, and moderate club content. An owner has those permissions and can also manage staff roles and owner-only club actions. The difference is the authority attached to the current role in that club, not a general level of access to someone’s BSD account. Check the club’s current permissions before assuming a title grants a particular action.

A moderator handles club moderation
The role permission map gives moderators permission to read, post, and moderate. It does not give them the separate configure or staff permissions. A moderation role therefore does not let someone change club settings or assign another staff role merely because they can moderate content.
The owner holds staff-management authority
The owner has read, post, moderate, configure, and staff permissions. BSD checks for the owner role when staff roles or invitations are changed. The lifecycle controls for an owner-managed free club are also owner-only.
Use the current permission state, not a label alone
BSD returns a club-specific access role and permission set, and protected actions check current authority. A name, badge, old screenshot, or prior role does not prove that the same permissions still apply. If an action is unavailable, confirm your current role in that club with its owner.
Hypothetical example: moderation versus staff changes
In a fictional club, a moderator may use an authorized content-moderation action but cannot invite a second moderator. The owner can manage staff roles. Neither role implies unrestricted access to the other member’s BSD account.

Can a moderator change club settings?
The permission map gives configure permission to admins and owners, not moderators. The action still depends on current club authorization.
Can an admin assign staff roles?
No. BSD restricts staff-role changes and staff invitations to the club owner. Admin configure permission does not include staff-management authority.
