Why might a staff invitation stop working before I accept it?

A staff invitation is a stateful, time-limited record, not permanent access. It may stop qualifying because the owner revoked it, its expiry passed, its state or revision changed, the target’s staff role changed, or current eligibility and club restrictions no longer allow acceptance. BSD checks those conditions when accepting. An old link or saved message cannot turn a revoked, expired, or changed invitation back into a pending one.

Acceptance depends on the current invitation record

The invitation stores a target profile, proposed staff role, revision, state, and expiry time. Acceptance requires the right target and club, the expected current revision, and a pending invitation that has not expired. A saved copy of the original invitation does not replace those current checks.

Several changes can make the invitation unavailable

The owner can revoke a pending invitation. It can also become unavailable after its expiry, a staff-role revision conflict, a change in target eligibility, or a current club restriction. The exact reason may not be visible from the old invitation reference, so do not infer that it was a delivery failure.

  • The invitation was revoked or is no longer pending.
  • The invitation expired or its expected revision is stale.
  • The target profile or club eligibility changed.

Refresh current state and ask the owner if needed

Check the current invitation state instead of repeatedly opening an old link. If you still expect the invitation, ask the club owner to confirm whether it remains active and whether a new invitation is appropriate. A replacement invitation is a new owner action, not a revival of the old one.

Hypothetical example: an invite no longer matches the staff record

In a fictional club, the owner sends an admin invitation and later changes the target’s staff record before the recipient accepts. The old invitation’s expected revision no longer matches the current record, so the accept action can be rejected. The recipient checks the current invitation with the owner instead of treating the saved link as authority.

Can I use an old invitation link after the owner revoked it?

No. The acceptance action requires the current invitation to remain pending and valid. An old link does not reverse a revocation.

Does a failed invitation prove BSD is down?

No. The invitation may have changed state, expired, or no longer match current staff or eligibility checks. Confirm the current record with the club owner.
