Does receiving a staff invitation notification mean the role is already active?
No. A notification that an invitation exists is not the same as an accepted staff role. The invitation record distinguishes pending, accepted, and revoked states, and acceptance is a separate action by the invited target. Until that action succeeds and the current staff role is active, do not assume the new permission is available.
For People receiving or sending a club staff invitation · Updated
The invitation has its own status
Club invitations are represented with a state such as pending, accepted, or revoked, along with a target profile, proposed role, revision, and expiry time. A pending invitation is not yet an accepted role.
A notification can alert someone to an invitation, but it does not change the invitation state merely by appearing on a device.
The invited target must accept
The invitation flow exposes separate accept and revoke actions. Acceptance is performed for the target account and is checked against the current invitation and staff revision before the role is applied.
After acceptance, use the current role state to confirm the permission. Do not infer active access from a notification alone or from an older pending invitation.
- Pending means the invitation has not reached accepted state.
- Acceptance is a separate action by the invited target.
- Revoked or unavailable invitations do not grant a role.
Check the current role state
If the invitation is stale, revoked, or unavailable, the action can fail and the current staff role may differ from the earlier message. Refresh the invitation and role state through the existing club flow.
This is a status distinction, not a promise that every notification is delivered or that an invitation is still valid when opened.
A pending invitation notification
Hypothetically, a person receives a notice that a moderator invitation was created. The invitation remains pending until that person accepts through the current invitation flow. The notification itself does not grant moderator access.

Does a notification activate a role?
No. The invitation must reach accepted state through the target's separate acceptance action.
Can an expired or revoked invitation still grant access?
The invitation state and current staff role must be checked; a notification alone does not establish active access.
