Can I change my club name without renaming my profile?

The current service has separate club name and description settings, so a club settings request is distinct from renaming the owner's public profile. Only a current owner or admin with configure permission can submit it. Names can be up to 100 characters and descriptions up to 2,000; a submitted change enters moderation rather than becoming publicly approved immediately. The backend source does not establish an exact native app screen or button path.

For Owners and admins managing a BSD club's public identity · Updated

Club settings are separate from the owner's profile

BSD stores club name and description in club-specific settings. The public summary uses approved club settings when available; otherwise it falls back to the owner's public profile name and bio. A club settings request does not itself rename the profile or account.

That distinction matters if the club and creator use different names. A profile edit changes profile fields; a club settings request targets the club's separate name and description.

Only a current owner or admin can configure the club

The settings service checks the acting member's current club role and requires configure permission. Its input accepts a name up to 100 characters and a description up to 2,000 characters, with a current settings revision.

If the settings changed since they were read, the service can refuse a stale submission. Refresh the current settings before sending a new request.

A submitted change is not immediate public approval

Submitting club settings places them in a pending moderation state. The public summary reads approved settings; a pending request is not evidence that the new name or description is already public or accepted.

Use a settings editor only if the current BSD client exposes one. The recorded backend configuration method does not establish visible native navigation or exact button wording.

Hypothetical: changing a club label only

Imagine an owner wants the club name to differ from the name on the owner's public profile. If the current BSD product offers club settings, the owner submits a club-specific name and description within the field limits. The request enters moderation; it does not rename the profile, and the pending text is not yet the approved public club setting.

Related questions

Will changing the club name also change my public profile name?

No. The service stores club settings separately from profile fields. A public summary uses approved club settings when present and otherwise falls back to the owner's public profile name and bio.

Will the new name appear as soon as I submit it?

Not necessarily. A submitted setting enters moderation, and only approved settings are used as the club's public name and description.
