Which report reason should I select, and do I need to add details?

The free-club form offers five reasons: spam, fake, abuse, nsfw and other. Select the closest label for the concern you want reviewed; use other when none of the listed categories fits. These short labels are not a complete statement of BSD's community rules. The details field is optional and limited to 1,000 characters, so add a concise explanation only if it helps identify what in the post you want reviewed. A selected reason or added detail does not guarantee a decision.

For BSD members preparing a report about a free-club post · Updated

Choose the closest of the five report reasons

The current Report post form lists spam, fake, abuse, nsfw and other. Pick the available label that best describes why this particular post should be reviewed. If none of the named categories fits, choose other.

The form's reason list is a short intake category set, not a full policy glossary. Use BSD's published community rules for the broader standards rather than treating a label as a complete definition.

Add details only when they provide useful context

The report details field is explicitly optional. You can submit a report with a reason and no additional text. If a short label does not explain the concern, use the field to point to the relevant part of the post or briefly describe what you want the reviewer to notice.

The field accepts up to 1,000 characters. Keep the text focused on this post and avoid adding unrelated personal information. More detail does not guarantee a particular review result.

  • Use one reason that best fits the concern.
  • Choose other if none of the named labels fits.
  • Leave details blank when the category is enough; otherwise keep the explanation specific and concise.

The category is a request for review, not a finding

Selecting spam, fake, abuse, nsfw or other records the reason you chose. It does not prove that the post violated a rule or predict whether the case will be upheld or dismissed.

After an accepted receipt, use the saved content-review status for the case result. Do not send a different reason as a way to check the same report.

Hypothetical: choosing a reason and adding context

Suppose a member sees a free-club post that they believe does not fit any of the four named categories. They choose other and, if the label alone would not explain the concern, add a short note identifying the relevant part of that post. The note is optional and stays within the 1,000-character field. The chosen category and explanation request review; they do not predetermine the outcome.

Related questions

Do I have to write details to submit a report?

No. The field is optional. BSD accepts the selected reason with the details field left blank.

What if none of the report reasons fits?

Choose other and add a brief explanation only if it helps describe the concern. The reason labels are not a complete policy definition.

Will choosing a particular reason make the report more likely to be upheld?

The source does not promise an outcome based on a selected label or details. A report is a request for review, not proof of a violation.
