Why is a deposit into a sportsbook not betting profit?
A deposit is money moved into a sportsbook balance; it is not a result earned by a wager. Betting profit or loss comes from settled ticket outcomes and the amounts the sportsbook records for those tickets. Adding a deposit to winning results would mix cash funding with wager performance. Review account transactions separately from settled bets, and use the sportsbook's own records to reconcile either amount.
For Bettors reconciling account funding with settled ticket results · Updated
Funding an account and settling a bet are different events
A deposit changes how much money is available in an account. A wager settlement records how a particular ticket ended. The deposit is not a win, and the amount deposited is not profit made from a ticket.
A ticket record can show an outcome such as win, loss, push or void, along with realized profit and, when supplied, a cash-return amount. These fields describe the ticket record. They are not a ledger of every deposit, withdrawal or account-balance movement.
Compare the right records when totals look different
Use the sportsbook's account transaction history to check funding movements and its settled-wager history to check ticket results. Match each ticket by its sportsbook reference, outcome and settlement detail. Keep deposits and withdrawals in their own cash-movement category when reviewing wager profit or loss.
- A deposit receipt confirms funding, not that a wager was placed or won.
- An open or unsettled ticket does not yet provide a settled result.
- A reported ticket profit and cash return are separate fields; either can be unavailable in an imported record.
- If account balance changed but no matching ticket is visible, check the sportsbook transaction record rather than assigning the difference to betting profit.
History records tickets, not sportsbook deposits
The BSD History record model contains imported or manually entered ticket records, their outcomes and ticket-level amount fields. It does not define a sportsbook-deposit record. Manual results are self-reported; imported records can be missing amounts or source details.
BSD does not accept, place, broker or settle wagers and does not hold sportsbook funds. A History view is not a sportsbook bank statement. Use the sportsbook itself for account deposits, withdrawals, available balance and accepted wagers.
Hypothetical: account funding alongside a settled ticket
Imagine a bettor adds money to a sportsbook account and separately has a ticket settle. The funding record shows money moved into the account. The ticket record shows the wager's outcome and any reported profit or cash return. The deposit is not counted as winnings; the bettor compares the two records separately and relies on the sportsbook's statement if either entry is incomplete.
Related questions
Does a deposit count toward the profit shown for a settled wager?
No. A deposit is account funding; ticket profit or loss is tied to wager settlement. Keep the sportsbook's deposit transaction separate from settled ticket results.
Can BSD History confirm where a sportsbook deposit went?
This History record schema describes wager tickets, not sportsbook deposit transactions. Check the sportsbook's own transaction history. BSD does not hold or move funds in the sportsbook account.
