Does sharing a club mean someone has agreed to receive private messages?

No. Sharing or joining a BSD club does not by itself mean someone has agreed to private direct messages. Club membership governs access and activity within that club; direct contact has its own request and acceptance states. Treat an initial message as a request, not as permission for an ongoing conversation, and follow the current consent state before sending more. Membership, moderator, or admin status does not bypass that separate boundary.

For Community members having consented conversations · Updated

A club role applies inside the club

Club roles define club permissions such as reading, posting, moderating, configuring, or managing staff. Those permissions do not establish that another member has consented to a private conversation. A shared post or club invitation is not a message-acceptance event.

Keep each kind of permission distinct

Club membership, direct-message acceptance, and permission for automated AI processing are separate states. Check the relevant state for the action you intend to take and honor a refusal or block. If no current acceptance is shown, do not treat community participation as permission to continue privately.

Hypothetical example: membership does not start a private chat

A bettor joins a free club and reads a creator's discussion post. That shared club membership does not make private messaging an accepted conversation. Any direct contact still follows the separate request and acceptance flow. This is a synthetic example, not a real member interaction.

No. Moderator permissions apply to club activity. Direct-message requests and acceptance remain separate consent states.
