How does blocking a conversation differ from unfollowing someone?
Unfollowing and blocking solve different jobs. Unfollowing removes the follow relationship used to include a profile in your Following feed; it is not a message refusal or a privacy block. Blocking is a stronger contact boundary that denies new contact and delivery, while previously delivered history may remain available to authorized participants. Neither action is the same as changing someone's club membership or staff role, so check club access separately.

Unfollow changes the Following relationship
The Following feed is built from profiles you currently follow. Removing that relationship changes whether the profile is included through that feed filter. It does not, by itself, express that you declined a message request or create a direct-message block.
Block is a contact boundary
A block restricts new contact and delivery under the messaging rules. It is stronger than a feed preference, but it is not a promise to erase messages that were already delivered and remain available to authorized participants. Unblocking also does not grant message-request consent.
- Choose unfollow when your goal is to change your Following feed.
- Choose the current block or safety action when your goal is to restrict contact.
- Use the club's separate membership or staff controls to change club access.
Check which relationship you actually changed
After an action, confirm its current state and scope. A changed follow relationship does not establish that a block was applied, and a block is not proof that club membership or a staff role changed. If access inside a club is the concern, verify that club record separately.
Hypothetical example: clean up a feed or stop contact
A member no longer wants one creator's posts in the Following feed, so they unfollow. If the concern is unwanted new direct contact, unfollow alone does not meet that goal; the member checks the current contact-safety controls instead. Neither step changes the person's club role. This is a synthetic example.

Does unfollowing block someone from messaging me?
No. Unfollowing changes the follow relationship used by the Following feed. It does not itself create a block or record a message-consent decision.
